"Town is where many of us live and most of us visit, so St Helier’s streets and spaces should be attractive and vibrant, a place to spend time in and of which we
can be proud. The junction of King Street and New Street is important, not only for retail but also for walking across town, while New Cut is a key connection to
Broad Street and on to the Harbour.
This public realm improvement scheme will provide a new surface treatment and enlarge the opening to the Le Sueur obelisk square by relocating the untidy cycle
racks. Pedestrian priority over vehicles and cycles will be emphasised, and the bottom end of New Street enhanced with new seating and tree planting.
We appreciate that the construction work will cause some inconvenience, but we hope that you can bear with our teams as this is an investment for the future.”
Andy Jehan, Minister for Infrastructure and Simon Crowcroft, Constable of St Helier

The design is now complete, and the scheme was delivered between January and July 2025.
